Mounting Solutions

Below are four common plaque mounting solutions. Let your project manager know what type of material the plaque will be installed into, and we'll include the right hardware with your order.

Mounting hardware is cast or drilled into the plaque itself, so it has to be decided before production — not after the plaque arrives. It costs nothing extra to get it right; it costs a re-cast to get it wrong.

Concrete / Masonry — Studs

Holes are drilled into concrete or masonry and filled with epoxy for a blind mounting application. Studs are welded to the back of the plaque, so no fasteners appear on the face.

Concrete / Masonry — Expansion Sleeves

The bolt head is countersunk flush with the surface of the plaque and finished in the same color and finish. This solution allows the plaque to be removed in the future — a common choice for building identification.

Drywall / Cement Block — Toggle Bolts

Toggle bolts are ideal for drywall and cement block applications. The bolt head is countersunk flush with the plaque surface and finished to match.

Wood — Wood Screws

Wood screws are ideal for wood applications and are available in multiple sizes. The screw head is countersunk flush with the plaque surface and finished to match.

Choosing the Right Method

If you're not sure what your wall is made of, tap it. A solid, dull sound usually means concrete, brick, or stone — blind studs with expansion sleeves are the standard there, and they leave no visible fasteners. A hollow sound means drywall or panelling, which calls for toggle bolts that spread the load behind the surface. Wood framing, posts, and interior millwork take wood screws directly.

Weight matters as much as surface. A small interior plaque is forgiving; a large cast bronze panel can weigh a great deal and needs anchors rated for it. Send us the installation surface along with your quote request and your project manager will specify hardware to match — it ships in the same crate as the plaque.

Common Mounting Questions

Do you install the plaque?

We manufacture and ship; installation is handled locally, typically by a facilities crew, mason, or general contractor. Every order includes the correct hardware and a mounting pattern, so any competent installer has what they need.

Can a plaque be mounted outdoors permanently?

Yes — that's what cast bronze is for. Bronze develops a natural patina outdoors and lasts for generations. Cast aluminum also holds up outside and costs less, which makes it a common choice for larger signage.

What if the plaque is going on a post or freestanding base?

We regularly produce plaques for posts, monument stones, and podium-style bases. Tell us the mounting arrangement when you request a quote and we'll engineer the stud pattern for it.
